When ENGEL first unveiled a tie-bar-less injection moulding machine at the K trade fair in Düsseldorf in 1989, the reaction was mixed: technical fascination on one hand, open scepticism on the other. At that time, few would have predicted that this “revolutionary” design would evolve into one of the most successful technologies in injection moulding machinery. Today, 35 years later, ENGEL looks back on more than 85,000 tie-bar-less machines delivered worldwide – and continues to drive this innovation forward with a consistent focus on customer needs. At this year’s K 2025, ENGEL is presenting a world première: a new electric tie-bar-less injection moulding machine.
At K 2025, ENGEL will demonstrate how technological innovation, digital intelligence and sustainability can be effectively combined. The trade fair presentation focuses on industry-specific injection moulding solutions that enable companies to manufacture more efficiently, precisely and flexibly. ENGEL will showcase its technologies and solutions in practical operation – from the use of artificial intelligence in the running injection moulding process to highly integrated production cells for the automotive, medical, technical moulding and packaging sectors. Visitors are invited to gain a comprehensive overview of future-proof applications at ENGEL’s stand in Düsseldorf – and to witness the world premiere of a new electric tie-bar-less injection moulding machine.
With a festive ceremony and around 140 guests from the Swiss plastics industry, ENGEL has opened a new Tech Centre at its site in Frauenfeld. The inauguration also marks the 50th anniversary of ENGEL’s business operations in Switzerland. With this new technology centre, the Austrian injection moulding machine manufacturer is making a targeted investment in customer support, training and further education, as well as technological development – particularly in the highly regulated medical technology sector.
ENGEL, a global market leader in plastic injection moulding, will be exhibiting for the first time at EUROBIKE, which takes place from 25 to 29 June in Frankfurt. The Austrian machine manufacturer, headquartered in Schwertberg, will present a complete production cell demonstrating the live manufacture of an innovative bicycle handlebar for CANYON Bicycles. ENGEL showcases how advanced injection moulding technologies are paving the way for high-performance, lightweight, and sustainably produced bicycle components.
Injection moulding machine manufacturer ENGEL is continuing to advance its internationalisation strategy and, as of 1 April 2026, will acquire its long-standing sales partner Roegele in Spain. This move strengthens ENGEL’s presence in the south-western European market and marks the establishment of a new subsidiary: ENGEL Spain. Read more
